30 Years of ABE: Micropipetting Through the Years

When the Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) first started in 1990, teachers like Hugh Nelson walked students through the steps for micropipetting through instructions on an overhead projector. While the technique and equipment for micropipetting has not changed much in 30 years, teachers now have new ways to teach the process to their students, as showcased in a Then to Now video in honor of ABE’s 30th anniversary.

In addition to hands-on instruction in a classroom lab, students now can try their hand at micropipetting techniques through online simulations like those provided by LabXchange. As the field of biotechnology grows and evolves so too do the ABE offerings that empower students through real-world laboratory experiences.
