This month, we want to express our deep appreciation for Dr. Sue Sissling, who has been the site director for ABE United Kingdom since 2017 and will be leaving ABE at the end of May. In her role as the director at the Centre for STEM Education at the University of Hertfordshire, Sue has not only helped to align and elevate multiple regional and national STEM programs in the UK, but she has also raised the bar for what high-quality professional learning looks like within and outside ABE professional development institutes. She has been a thought partner for the Program Office in the areas of teacher professional learning as well as has built and strengthened the UK program site’s robust relationship with Amgen Limited (UK).

With her focus on seeking innovative and practical ways to bring access to STEM to underrepresented and underserved student communities in the UK, Sue has been a tireless advocate for equity and success in STEM for all. The program will not be the same without her guidance and expertise, and Sue will be missed as she takes the next steps on her personal and professional journey!
